Life & Growth Groups fulfill a vital role in the lives of people at Christian Chapel. This is where we believe “iron sharpens iron” as small groups of people bond in friendship, study God’s Word in depth and grow through doing life together.
We offer two types of groups:
  • Sermon-based Life Groups: Participants explore and apply the principles of the prior Sunday’s sermon by developing action steps to make biblical truth work in their lives.
  • Curriculum-based Growth Groups: Participants work through topical studies that may be presented through lecture, DVD, or workbook formats.
Life Groups meet in member’s homes throughout the week and at the church on Sunday mornings.
Sermon-based Life Groups follow a semester schedule from January through June with a break for Easter, followed by a summer break, and September through November breaking for the Christmas season.
Sunday morning Growth Groups meet continuously through the year, with occasional breaks for holidays.
Small groups designed to learn Bible truth and application in a setting that is non-threatening, friendly, and suited to every taste.
We currently have three adult and one teen group enjoying the following studies:
  • Tweens (8-11): Classroom 1, Children’s Wing
  • Teens: Radiant Life Curriculum
  • Adult Men: Stepping Up by Dennis Rainey
  • Adult Women: Ephesians: Your Identity in Christ by Dr. Tony Merida.
“Although Ephesians is one of the New Testament’s shortest books, it’s perhaps the most applicable to today’s culture In his letter to the church in Ephesus, Paul conveyed his pastoral heart for believers by focusing on who they are in Christ and how their new identity relates to their struggles, new life, community, pursuits of unity and holiness, and challenges.
Disciple for Life: Disciple is both a noun and a verb. It’s a personal identity and a lifelong process in our relationships.”
It will be a 12 week study that will begin on January 13, 2019.
Adult Mixed: Beginning, Sunday, March 12, a study of Ravi Zacharias’ new book Jesus Among Secular Gods. This study will give you ideas for conversations with those who are wrapped up in atheism, relativism, etc. Newcomers: This four week group acquaints anyone new to Christian Chapel with our mission, purpose, and vision for Making Jesus Known in our community. The group is held in four-week sessions throughout the year. Contact Peter or Sommer Graves at 757-427-9371 to find out when the next session begins.
